The Battle at the Border is one of the largest wars ever fought in the Twin Crescents. War began brewing shortly after Mok'gram erupted. The eruption spewed volcanic debris across the entire eastern crescent. It destroyed almost all of the fertile farmland with rivers of magma, boiling clouds of gas, and scorched the earth until it was barren.
After the shock of the eruption toppled their capital, the orcs turned their gaze on the western crescent. Their people were suffering and efforts to rebuild stagnated and failed. They needed farmland to thrive. Thus, the orcish clans united under General Khaazheem to fight for their families and claim a new homeland.
Hellan put up massive resistance. Together, the Confederacy built a wall along the southern border and resisted the orcish incursion. The Snowfell Dwarves took the brunt of the attack before reinforcements arrived. The Confederacy and orcs were evenly matched until gods appeared on the battlefield.
Arth and Vandun appeared in-person to ensure the Confederacy was defeated. They were attacked by Hejong, god of war, in retaliation. Hejong banished both deities, sending Vandun to the heavens to be shackled in the pantheon, and Arth to the Dark Below pinned by Hejong's legendary sword.
Queen Veladriel, King Ahellion, and the united Confederacy descended on Fort Burmos where the orcs had overrun. Veladriel used her legendary gemstone, Ilterendi, to destroy the city while Queen Tristia Renbran retreated with her dwarvish forces. In the end, the Confederacy won the great war.
The aftermath of the Battle at the Border saw the dwarves retreat underground for many years, the Confederacy nearly fall apart in the wake of destruction, and many wartorn families grieving the loss of millions of soldiers.
