A beautiful structure on the ocean floor, the Citadel is rumored to be where the sea goddess Anashta liked to relax and rest. It is also the birthplace of sirens and mermaids.
Citadel Construction and Technology

The Citadel is highly advanced. Its structures are built on pieces of floatstone that are chained to the sea floor. When the rampant tectonic activity beneath the entire Kraken's Eye region shifts, shakes, and causes undersea earthquakes, the Citadel simply sways and rocks with it -- causing no damage.
The Citadel features advanced technology. Generators, hydropower, aquaponics, and more are prevalent in and around the Citadel. It is an intact relic from long ago, when the world was young and merfolk were the only sentient creatures in the oceans. The Siren Queen Shaelyn lives in the Citadel and tends to it.
The Citadel's Surroundings
Surrounding the Citadel are geothermal sites with upwellings of hot water. These bubbling, glowing vents are treated by merfolk the same way land-goers treat beaches. The water there is warm, pleasant, and temporary egg-laying communities form around them when mermaids migrate through the area. Giant clams inhabit the area and deepsea pearls can be farmed from them. Merfolk sacrifice fish bones collected on their migration to vents near the Veil as a form of ritual appeasement to Anashta.
Merfolk are a very ancient race, and found a way to purify the Veil’s unstable energies. Conduits that collect magic from its spasming, erratic surges of energy store power in large batteries.
