Overview
Before the impenetrable mists surrounding the Twin Crescents were lowered, the entire region was referred to as "The Kraken's Eye" by the inhabitants of the Isles.

Known Observations
Before the mists surrounding the Twin Crescents were lowered, most ships steered clear of the area. It was guarded by a behemoth-sized kraken named Kog'sumoth the Devourer. After the mists fell, the area became traversable, and the kraken was swiftly killed by adventurers.

The Kraken’s Eye is a Bermuda-Triangle like zone in the center of the Isles' inland sea. Its physical features set it apart from the surrounding water. Even without the mist wall, these features still persist:
Jagged cliffs shaped like talons reach skyward. These sharp, angular cliffs are filled with magnetic rocks that disrupt compasses in the vicinity. They are spaced approximately a mile apart, and form a giant perimeter in a perfect circle around the Twin Crescents. They were originally placed by the gods to form conduits for the mist wall that surrounded the Crescents.
Constant storms plague the area. The wall of mist used to reach all the way up to low-hanging clouds clustered in this area. The mist's dissipation caused a series of microbursts that continue to trigger off eachother, setting off thunderstorms, high winds of up to 100 mph, and waves that crest at 45 feet tall. Intermittent periods of calm between freak storms allow safe passage.
Scattered sandbars surround the cliffs. They are covered in sparse trees and minimal plants feeding on latent energy in the zone; however, these islands rise, fall, and reshape frequently due to unending tectonic activity. Due to the Edge of the World positioned in the east, a massive source of upwelling seawater is required to replenish the ocean. The ocean floor beneath the Crescents is one of these places -- a location of great and constant tectonic activity.
