Overview
The Sunken World is a part of Ilisara's upper planetary crust laid bare. It is a minefield of active volcanoes. Visiting the Sunken World is a dangerous endeavor; its inhabitants include fire elementals, Inferni, and twisted monsters that were previously hidden in the subterranean tunnels of the Dark Below.
The western edge of the Sunken World is a giant waterfall named the Edge of the World. The marine layer mixes with ash, creating bright red flashes of lightning. An ever-present cloud of smoke and ash covers the Sunken World. It is inhospitable to most life including the denizens that live there.
Seismic activity is common in the Sunken World.
The only known settlements in the Sunken World are Calak’mul and the Seat of Eternal Flame. The Eternal Flame is the father of all fire elementals. His throne sits in a near-constantly erupting volcano. Vents on either on its summit (caldera) or on the rift zones spew lava forth that flows in rivers across the Sunken World.

The Sunken World's Creation
Long ago, during the godwars, it was common for deities to fight amongst each other. Hejong was the pantheon's enforcer of law and justice. He took issue with the god of Time, Aeon. Aeon was manipulating the forces of reality and causing chaos in Ilisara. Hejong fought him in a legendary battle that ended when Hejong picked up the edge of a continent, and hurled it at Aeon.
The ocean immediately began pouring into the hole left behind by Hejong, and vents of magma burst forth from the earth. The Sunken World became a nightmarish hellscape of volcanic activity. An upwelling of water beneath the Kraken's Eye as a result of tectonic activity replenishes the lost ocean water.
The continent Hejong threw at Aeon shattered against Aeon, instantly killing him. Some of the debris circles around Ilisara in space as a cluster of dust and rock. Some of it fell to Ilisara's surface, impacting An'mani and creating Okuna.
