When Ilisara was young, the gods used it as their personal playground. Islands rose and collapsed into the sea, species were created and wiped out in divine wars, and chaos reigned. The gods fought relentlessly in attempts to rule the world as they saw fit.
After a time, the endless war slowly sputtered out as the gods realized they'd made no progress in eons. They made a pact to cease the godwars, and cordoned off one part of the world to be the ultimate livingplace for their most favored creations. This place was known as the Crescents.
The Crescents were designed carefully with all gods' ideas and input. The gods made varying biomes and seeded them with diverse flora and fauna. The gods placed a divine barrier around the Crescents and sealed themselves inside. The land outside the Crescents was abandoned by the gods and left to the fog of time and development.
The Crescents are made up of two continents: Hellan (left) and Isandor (right).
Upon the armageddon-event that caused the Afterlife to collide with Ilisara, many gods went missing or died and the divine shield around the Crescents fell. This enabled the denizens of the Crescents to communicate and travel to the rest of the world at last. Today, the Twin Crescents are accessible to the Isles.

Leadership
Today, the Sun Elves rule the Twin Crescents via the Vestian Empire. The map above displays various kingdoms, settlements, and features of the Vestian Empire. The five Kingdoms are Vestia, Thrain, Snowpeak, Revalis, and Erendor.
Yellow markers belong to the sun elves. Purple markers belong to Thranic humans. Blue markers belong to the Snowfell dwarves.
Summarized History
A complete history of the Twin Crescents is covered elsewhere. The most important events to occur after the last period of Dark Ages in the Crescents were:
The creation of a Confederacy unifying humans, dwarves, and elves
The destruction of Winterheart, the dark elf homeland, and subsequent splinter faction of star elves rising to power
The eruption of a volcano in Isandor named Mok'gram that rendered the lands hostile and nigh-uninhabitable for the orcs
The Battle at the Border, where orcs attempting to settle in Hellan were repelled by Confederacy forces
Armageddon, wherein the Afterlife collided with the Crescents
The rise to power of the Vestian Empire, led by sun elves
