Vandun (art by victoria_fantasy_art)

Ancient Deity of Deceit; Patron of Demons and Warlocks; the Dark Lord

Vandun is one of the gods who was contained in the Twin Crescents, but perished after Armageddon. The following information regards his past place in the pantheon.

Status: Deceased

To defile the world and twist the other gods' domains was Vandun's prime directive. He has no concept of the welfare of others, and would see the world destroyed so that it can be rebuilt to his own specifications. Vandun's followers are fanatical in their love of destruction. They have no formal hierarchy, and indulge in acts of random or spiteful violence, pillage and banditry. Some are committed evangelists who seek to gain converts through fear or the enticement of raw power. Demons tend to fall into this category. Demons were created by Vandun and consider him the father of their species.

Worship of Vandun is outlawed in the Crescents. Most holy sites of Vandun are secret because of this. Manipulating the world from the shadows is preferable to his followers. Whenever a temple of Vandun acquires something, or someone, important enough to be sacrificed, it engages in dark rituals to ensure the sacrifice adds to Vandun's power. Eclipses are considered holy, being accompanied by feasts, fervent prayers, and bloody sacrifices. Many worshippers of Vandun believed that he should be wed to Seluna to help shroud the world in dark, eternal night.

Many outside Vandun's cult view his followers as a twisted den of madness, trickery, and death. His followers condemned this outlook, preferring to see their religion as enlightened. It supposedly reveals that all societal bonds of friendship, family, and love were nothing but weak ties that always wither away, and therefore are useless, weak, and pitiful.
