Movement
A character's Dexterity score determines their Movement Speed and bonus to Initiative rolls.
Required Dexterity | Movement Speed | Distance Traveled in One Move Action | Initiative Bonus |
---|---|---|---|
0-4 | Low | 25 feet | +0 |
5-7 | Medium | 30 feet | +2 |
8+ | High | 35 feet | +5 |
Range
Ranged Attacks
Most ranged attacks (spells, arrows shot from bows, etc) have a range of 70 feet. In other words, twice the distance traveled in one move action by a High movement speed character.
Trying to hit a target at longer ranges can be done with Storyteller approval, usually at a -5 or -10 penalty depending on the range.

Movement Abilities
Movement abilities always take characters 10 feet further than their maximum movement speed.
Playing Without a Grid
Playing Without a Grid
Ilisara was designed to be played without a grid, map, or tokens. It is possible to allow characters to move around and use abilities without tracking their location. This requires the Storyteller to be the arbiter of whether or not characters are in range to attack their foes. Combat is balanced in Ilisara around most characters always being in range to attack, so don't trouble yourself with tracking movement very rigorously without a grid.
